One of my "go-to" bars on Pcola Beach. I generally prefer the 'Shaker during the day and enjoy being able to get out on the deck or the crow's nest upper deck. Also a great place to see some talented local bands, although the set-up isn't ideal...if you are inside of the "garage" where the bands play, your ears will bleed, but if you out on the deck, you're either standing up or just listening, because there will be throngs of people massed at the deck steps. The drinks are reliable. The bushwackers are delivered in Styrofoam cups that provide you with enough time to actually enjoy the slushiness before it melts, unlike some places on the beach that go the cheap route and use thin plastic cups. No draft beer, but the longnecks are always cold. As several others have noted, the 'Shaker is definitely a locals hangout, but it isn't solely a locals bar. Due to its proximity to the Casino Beach parking lot and Quietwater Boardwalk (which somebody told me is now, officially "Portofino Boardwalk" or some crap that I'll never use), it is convenient no matter where you are on the beach. I appreciate all of the stuff that Sonny does for local charities at the 'Shaker. I've been to crawfish boils to benefit locals and the Krewe du Ya Yas has an event every summer to benefit breast cancer. The sense of community matters...a lot of places are focused too tightly on making another dollar. The gift shop has some neat shirts and trinkets. I have some nice and colorful t-shirts that elicit happy memories of long weekends spent getting blasted at the 'Shaker. :p No trip to the beach could be complete without at least one beer at the 'Shaker. The employees are nice, although it does get quite busy and hectic at times. Give the place a shot.

I'm not a bar person, but I liked this bar. Sanshaker has the friendly feel of the classic Cheers bar, where everyone knows your name. It's a place where the locals hangout, and I see why. At first I walked in and was exhausted from a busy week and quickly started divulging in their bushwacker, topped off with a horribly tasting shot of 151, I stirred until I couldn't taste the alcohol, must understand that I'm not a drinker. The bushwacker was yummy, it had a nice vanilla bean ice cream taste to it. I heard lots of talk about their strawberry and banana bushwacker, I must see what this is about. I tried my friends and quickly indulged, was happy to be chewing on fresh chunks of banana, yummy! I ordered one myself and it was gone in 60 seconds. I opted this time without a shot of 151 and enjoyed this delightful drink that was made to order. I definitely recommend ordering the strawberry banana bushwacker and the classic bushwacker. We sat at Hillary's bar. A beautiful bartender with a mesmerizing personality. She took good care of us and she herself gets 5 stars on service and friendliness. There is nothing more annoying then a bitchy pretty bartender, who is bitchy just because she has to serve a pretty lady. Hillary gave us the ultimate Cheers experience, friendly, personable, human and on beat. Her drinks were delicious. She even gave my husband and I red snappers on the house, they too were good tasting shots, perfectly mixed. I look forward to my next outing to Sandshakers. I also look forward to Hillary take care of my husband and I again. All in all, I'm not a bar girl, but this humble bar has me hooked. I also liked how the owner is very friendly and went around greeting the guests. Nice neighborhood bar.

Absolutely disgusted with how I was treated here. I was celebrating my Dad's 50th birthday and came with a large group of people. At least 3 people in my group ordered drinks before I got to the bar and ordered multiple drinks/shots without being carded and without question of the ID's of the people the drinks were for. The only reason I had gone up to the bar is to help with drinks and why I was carded. I understand people are doing their job and follow protocol, but then they should have asked for every ID of everybody the drinks were for. For example, my younger sister was at the bar ordering a drink for her and her 34-year-old boyfriend and asked her if she really needed to go back and grab his ID - the bartender said no, and carried on. She then asked me for my ID, and I am an American citizen currently living in the UK because my husband is in the Marines. I don't carry my passport around, especially if I'm bar hopping, because that is a very expensive thing to replace if lost. I showed her my British driver's license, my UK visa, and my military dependents card and she refused to serve me because I did not have my US passport. But she was totally ok with taking my sister's word that the extra drink she bought was for her 34-year-old boyfriend. She further insulted my intelligence by making a childish point of grabbing a yellow laminated card that showed what forms of ID they accepted. The first thing said driver's license (didn't specify where it needed to originate from). I was not rude to her, but she threatened to call the cops 'if I had a problem with their policy'. I complied politely, and headed back to my party, only to be followed by the manager and rudely told that "you need to go, you can't stay here!" As much as I wanted to make a scene, it was my dad's birthday and didn't want to put more of a damper on our night. I will never give this place my business in the future, the staff is extremely rude and apparently very judgmental, do not think that's how military personnel and their family should be treated.

This place has never let me down going on 26 years! My first bushwhacker was here in 1987. Opens early Sunday so you can start the day off right with a delicious bushwhacker topped off with 151! Three bushwhacker s topped with151 for only $6.00!!! Where else on the island are you going to do that? Home of the original and very duplicated Bushwhacker! Great friendly staff...Live music and local girls makes this a must stop! Note: if you pull up on a Portofino moped, chances are someone from the resort will spot you...the extreme package bracelets are a dead give away who they belong too! No worries! Enjoy!

I was told by our waitress at Peg Leg Pete's not to leave town without trying a bushwhacker. It was freezing at the beach and a bushwhacker seemed like a good idea. This is a locals bar and they were all partying on a Sunday afternoon. I cannot stand being around cigarette smoke so we grabbed our bushwhackers and sat under a heat lamp outside. The bushwhacker was creamy good and would have been even better if it had been warmer than 58 degrees. A fun stop.

This is a bar's bar and that's it, nothing fancy, just friendly locals; however, the crowd dynamics change with the tides. It's a great people watching place, you can watch real life soaps right in front of you.

It's hard for me to decide how many stars to give this place. On the one hand, the drinks were strong and cheap served by a friendly bartender. On the other hand, my 31 year old black friend was the only person that we saw that was asked for ID, which kinda makes them look racist (maybe 2 black people was more than the quota that the bar allowed?). We were here on Tuesday evening which is $2 Tuesday. This means that well drinks, some beer, and wine are all $2. There was also karaoke. I ordered a bushwcker and a rum and coke and it was $6.75 total. The bartender was kind enough to warn me that the bushwacker wasn't $2. I appreciated that. The bushwacker was good, and I'm glad that tried it at it's original place in Pensacola beach. That was well worth the price. The rum and coke was super strong. I love when places make drinks like this. I probably would have enjoyed this place a lot more if they hadn't asked my black friend to see her ID when they hadn't carded anyone else.

Place is horrible. Was told they had the best bushwacker on the beach. Hell it's right out of a slurpee machine like most. It was not creamy at all nothing but ice crystals. Beer was slightly cold. The worst was the inside. Stunk like stale beer and smoke. Smoke has penetrated everything. Need to revamp all of it.

Went there with basically the Mayor of this bar. He had his own parking spot! I think the best way to describe it is Karaoke Sh*tshow. It was hilarious. The bushwackers didn't hurt either. Also learned a new song: Red Solo Cup. Apparently the dude who sang it "is there every week." I downloaded it to my iPhone immediately. Definitely check it out if you're in the area.

Original bushwacker birthplace. Hella fun stop at eleven am. It's good and laid back. A true Pensacola gem. Cheap and strong is the stand by around here, and they hold true.

Do not even think about leaving Pensacola Beach without coming here for a Bushwacker first! The best one you will ever have, ever. I'm really not a bar girl, but I love this place. You can always count on seeing someone you know and getting to know someone you don't. I've had so much fun here so many times I can't even tell you. Check their website and come hear a great band. My one complaint is the smokey smell inside, soooo....I don't go inside. You can order through the window outside just fine! Beverly and Joe are the nicest people you will ever meet, and if you're visting, make a point to meet them. Have fun!

This bar isn't bad. I came in here on a cool night for a few beers with friends. The bar is pretty cool because it's been around for a while and it has history in the area. There is a stage in the back so in the summer time this would be worth checking out.

Its your average beach bar. The crowd is usually a little older and the rooms are a little crowded. Its good if you are looking for a bar on the beach to just hang outside and have a few drinks. They usually have a live band which is pretty cool.

Went whilst on my solo Vacationing, i came here solo, they had a great sounding band playing all the hair-rock. Has a funtastick upper deck overlooking the beach and all the areas below. Tiny fucking restroom but has another one behind the clothing cabinet so go there. Lots of rednecks but all sweet. Met a super tall dude called Tiny, or shorty. Beers were cold and a cute slender chic works the tiki hut out front. very beachy. Me likes

Listening to the band and they are awesome. Great drinks. Banana Bushwacker's are my favorite and they use real bananas when they have them. There is a lady cooking outside Cathy... a. k. a. (Brat), outside cooking the most amazing jambalaya grits and fried shrimp. Everyone is friendly and it's a great atmosphere.
